Originally from Northampton (UK), Alex has been living in Hong Kong for the past 12 years. He lives in Sai Kung Country Park. Alex is a stay-at-home Dad, looking after his two beautiful daughters (8 and 4 years) and a part time playgroup leader.
A few years ago, Alex’s eldest child (then aged 3) went through a phase of wanting a different spoken story every night. To begin with he found this easy – recounting all the popular children’s fairy tales. However, as time went on it became harder and harder to think of traditional stories, so he started making up his own. As Alex had always enjoyed writing short stories for his own amusement he relished this opportunity.
One particular evening Alex came up with Mr Wiz. He and his daughter enjoyed the story so much that this inspired numerous other tales. Some of these he decided to write down.
This is how ‘Mr Wiz and the Dragon’ was born.
In 2020 Mr Wiz and the Dragon found a home at Bumblebee books (an imprint of Olympia publishers).
